When Motivation Fades

We’ve all been there. When foggy headspace subsides and where your usual spark dims––motivation is lackluster. Just getting through the day feels like there is so muchresistance; forces working against you.

When there's highs, there will also be some lows. However, being in a rut doesn’t mean you’ve failed or that it will always be like this. In fact, what matters is it's what you do with it and how you overcome it head on.

With this week's newsletter, I wanted to share some tools to help you get your rhythm back, on some real sh*t.

1. Take a Time Out

When was the last time you've ever given yourself at least 15 minutes to take a pause in your day. A pause can look something like journaling.

During this time, sit down and ask yourself;

"What is it that's making me feel this way?"

Write how you feel in a few short sentences and you may find your reason(s).

Awareness is the first step to understanding your rut.

2. Any form of action leads to momentum

You can't just stand around and wait for things to eventually go away and get better.

Do something that moves you into the right direction.

For example, if you're struggling to get back into a workout routine, start with just showing up to the gym for 10 minutes or performing one exercise to get you moving.

Over time, you're going to decide to stay longer, that exercise becomes easier, and now you're back in your routine of showing up to the gym with an evolved, newer version of your old routine. That's the beauty of the snowball effect.

3. Tap into your inner child

When's the last time you had fun? Like REAL fun. When we tap into our inner child, this helps us see life in a playful light.

Life can get serious sometimes and we can feel so stressed out like meeting deadlines for work or just getting through the day waiting for the next day to do it all over again.

That's not living, that's surviving.

Let your inner child out and see the world like it's your first time experiencing it. Your outlook will flip your mind around.

4. Talk It Out with Someone You Trust

It's one thing to keep things bottled up. But one way or another, these thoughts & feelings will still come out whether it's now or later.

So the best move is to have someone be there to listen and support you through this time. It may take courage but the important thing about this is you can definitely find the answers you're looking for and better navigate thru challenging times.

A Coach Can Help

When a new client signs on with me, I do my best to give the most ideal information that helps cater to their needs and to ultimately, overcome these temporary moments.

They then start to see the value of what a coach can offer and create a system that works for them so that they know what to do whenever they feel like this again.

With that being said, I am opening up 3 in-person and 3 online slots for personal training for the month of May! If you need to get out of your rut, let's set up a call so that we can create a game plan to achieve your next breakthrough.
