We are now halfway thru the year and I wanted to check in with yall to see how you're doing? I'm probably guessing you made some goals at the beginning of this year. Now go ahead and check what you said you were going to do. Have you checked anything off the list? If so, great! Keep going and I'm rooting for you to get the rest of the list done. If not, what do you think is holding you back from doing them? Maybe they're goals that seemed unrealistic at first and now you're starting to notice that. Or maybe you just haven't made the right plan to get started.
With this week's newsletter, I want to provide you a few essentials questions that you should ask yourself during this halfway point of the year and to figure out what adjustments to make in order to reach your this year's goals. Let's begin!

5 Essential Questions to Ask Yourself
Everyone has their own essentials––phone, wallet, keys, fav cologne/perfume, and possibly a bag to put these all in. However, I'm not talking about those kind of essentials. I'm talking about essential questions to ask yourself during this midway point of the year. As some of you may know, I journal on the daily and consistently have been since 2022. Ever since then, my personal journaling has evolved and I now utilize it to help document everything I do as well as achieve my successes in life whether that's within my career, my relationships, and my personal goals. I started to enjoy the process of checking in on myself and eventually came across these important questions. By asking these questions periodically as time went, these have helped me move the needle in many aspects of my life and with that, I would like to share them with you.
Please give yourself at least 5-10 minutes of your time because this is incredibly important so that you're not doing things that aren't doing the actual thing you're supposed to be doing.
These are the five essential questions that I ask myself every mid-year goal check-in:
"What progress have I actually made toward my goals, and what evidence do I have?"
This question has forced me to move beyond my own feelings and get concrete about my achievements. It's easy to feel like you haven't accomplished much when you're in the daily grind, but documenting specific milestones, metrics, or completed tasks gives you an objective view of your progress and can reveal success you might have overlooked.
"Which goals still excite me, and which ones feel like obligations?"
Your motivation and circumstances change throughout the year and that's completely normal! Some goals that seemed important at the beginning of this year might no longer align with your current priorities or values. This question helps you identify which goals deserve continued energy and effort versus which ones you might need to modify or trash without feeling guilty.
"What obstacles have consistently blocked my progress, and what can I do differently?"
Rather than just acknowledging setbacks, this question pushes you to identify patternsin what's holding you back. Maybe you consistently underestimate time requirements, lack skills that you thought some jobs were easy, or face ongoing life circumstances. Understanding these patterns lets you create more realistic strategies for the second half of the year.
"What have I learned about myself and my capabilities that I didn't know at the start of this year?"
Going at it for six months of pursuing goals uncovers insights about how you work, when you have the most energy in the day/week, strengths, and limitations. This self-knowledge is invaluable for adjusting your approach and setting more achievable expectations moving forward.
"If I could only achieve one major thing in the remaining six months, what would have the biggest positive impact on my life?"
This question forces prioritization when you might be feeling scattered across multiple goals. It helps you focus your energy where it matters most and can guide difficult decisions about where to invest your time and resources for maximum ROI.
TAKEAWAYS
Again, find some time to set aside to answer these questions truthfully. Self-reflection is crucial so that you can build awareness on actions and behaviors that might be camouflage to you. It puts into perspective a ton of things and can be a catalyst on breaking unhealthy cycles in your lifestyle.
Turn Your Insights Into End-of-Year Success
If these questions revealed gaps between where you are and where you want to be, then we are onto something. The second half of the year is when most people either start making money moves toward their goals or let them quietly fade away.
Here's the difference between those who finish strong and those who don't: accountability & strategy.
A coach doesn't just ask you the tough questions — they help you create actionable steps from your answers. They show you the blind spots you can't see, challenge the excuses that feel reasonable, and keep you moving forward when motivation dips.
While you're dealing with obstacles that have stumped you for months, a coach can help you breakthrough in weeks. They've seen your challenges before and know exactly which strategies work and which ones waste time.
The math is simple. Six months with focused guidance and accountability beats six months of hoping you'll figure it out on your own.
Don't let December arrive with the same unfulfilled goals you're carrying today.
