Out With The Old

This past week I had finally moved out from living in a shared home for about 4 years. The feelings of moving out are bittersweet because I'm happy to have found a new and fresh space and to be finally living out with my SO. However, a ton of memories were made with many of my close friends and loved ones from what I called home from recent years.

In fact, this home was where I started my current personal training business and to have let go of all the training equipment in the garage where clients had trained countlessly and chosen to chase a healthier lifestyle underneath that roof made me realize that this chapter in my life was finally closing.

As I reflect on this closing chapter and the memories it holds, I find myself thinking what these experiences have taught me and what this new chapter might bring.

Why Change Can Be a Good Thing

"As one door closes, another one opens."

Whenever I hear this saying, 100 percent of the time it's a good thing.

I truly believe that this comes down to how we perceive change and most of the time, even when things don't turn out as planned, I always try to seek out the best of it.

What I've started to realize from any form of change is;

A greater sense of self-awareness. I know that life can just fly past us so quickly but when we allow for change to happen naturally, whether it's big or small, it has made me feel more grounded and I know that my every day choices do matter.

A chance to have a clean slate. When being introduced into new environments, whether it's a new space to let your mind think freely or it could even be doing things a little differently that you wouldn't normally do from your common routine, a clean slate can help with major breakthroughs down the road. I think there's so much to hope for when we have a clean slate because we don't let our past choices influence our current ones.

Growth is happening. Whether you see it or not, change is constant and happening ever second that passes and that change typically is growth, IF you choose to see it that way. In fact, this can mean letting go of your past self and accepting the present. It can mean seeking opportunities that await you.

In With The New

As I'm sitting here writing this newsletter in my new apartment, this new space provides creative energy that's just ready to be used and I'm more than excited for what this new space brings in my life.

Change is an invitation to discover parts of yourself you haven't seen yet, to find strengths you didn't know you hold, and to make a whole new chapter that is ready to be written based on the decisions you make now, at this very moment.

The question isn't whether change will come. It's whether you'll greet it as an enemy or embrace it as one of life's greatest teachers.

Take Action Today

In a journal or notepad, identify one small change you've been avoiding and take the first step toward it. Maybe it's rearranging a room, trying a different drink at the coffee shop instead of the usual, or finally signing up for that dance/fitness class you've been considering.

In addition, what change are you navigating right now? Hit reply and tell me about your experience with life's transitions. I read every response and often feature reader stories in future issues (with permission, of course). You never know who might need to hear exactly what you've learned.

Lastly, do you know someone facing a big transition currently? If so, please share this newsletter with them. Sometimes we all need a reminder that change is growth in disguise.
