"I don't got the time!"

We've heard it all before. Your schedule starts to look like you barely have time and you start to make the same excuses you did before you started working out/being active. The time you once had seems to slip away. However, this is where you need to take a step back and ask yourself;

"Do I really want to do this again?"

It's just a matter of time where you stop training and those days that you said you were going to get back to it become weeks and those weeks become months and months become years. Time is going to fly by before you know it.

With this week's newsletter, I want to address what its like to make the best use of your time and to help you make less excuses with the approach of time blocking.

What Does Your Schedule Look Like Now

Whether you use a physical calendar or an app-based calendar, it may look totally different now compared to the start of the year. In this case, I'd like to point out and see what takes up most of your schedule? Typically, this would base around what you do for work since the typical adult works a 9-5 job, 5 days a week. And if you're a business owner like myself, you're technically working 24/7 as so they say.

Once we see that time blocked out from your work schedule, then try to see what is the next thing that takes up most of your time. This can be family related; time with your significant other, friends, or taking care of parents/kids/pets. Block that time out because that time is more important than anything else. What's next?

Now is the perfect time to see across your calendar to point out any pockets of free time. This free time could ultimately fill as your workout slot or I consider this your 'you' time since you are working on yourself, physically & mentally.

Stick to this schedule for the next 2-3 weeks & see how this approach can allow for a set workout routine!

Ideally, think of it like this, how can you attend the first two –– especially spending time with people you care for –– if you yourself isn't being worked on? That is why I believe;

Showing up for yourself IS showing up for others.

Read that one more time and let it sink in.

Apps that make time blocking simple:

  • Google Calendar has been a great tool ever since I started my own business and it has worked *wonders*. I can always keep track of my schedule with integrating from my work and life events, and it's FREE.
  • Notion Calendar is another widely used app that is pretty similar to Google's. The only difference with this is you can schedule more larger projects but has less integration to other calendars.

All in all, these are just two that I believe that make things a lot easier as well as eliminating the chance for excuses.
